Bush is right; shortage of food is due to Indians. And Indians are taking this statement on heart, which apparently, is not right. What is wrong in Bush statement, if 350 million people will take better diets, then other countries will have to face the food problem? Indians have no right to take better diet because this right is reserved only for Americans. And why are Indians interfering in others right and area, take there bread piece and enjoying; Poet Kabir Dass says that “ROOKHA SUKHA KHAIKE THANDA PANI PI, DEKH PARAI CHUPRI MAT LALCHAVE JI.”

Now the petroleum prices are on top, $120 per barrel, the main reason behind this is that the Indians are using more vehicles. So many cars, buses and other vehicles are jamming the road, which too are not new, most of them are old and more then 15 years old, you can say the KHATARA CAR. And these type of cars giving low mileage that’s why petroleum demand is rising and rates are on the sky.

Due to these selfish Indians, world is facing the food problem. America is worried. And why not, America is a ‘Worried Nation’ - he has the right to worry, if the world faces petroleum crisis, America will be worried, in case there is a democracy problem, America will be worried, arms problem, America will be worried. Why we Indians are not worried about it? It’s a global problem and instead of paying heed to it, we are simply eating, eating and eating…

An average Indian consumes 178 kg grain and 36 kg of milk in a year, while an American takes only 146 kg of grain and only 78kg of milk. Who has given Indians the right to consume more without the permission of America?

If Indians are eating more, Americans are losing their diet and Bush is worried about the diet losses, it’s a genuine problem and Indians are making the noise that how Bush can give such statement, truth is always bitter, and the cry of the Indians proves it...!

Indians are drinking Coca cola, taking Pizza, burger, chips, fried chicken, and what not. These items are not meant for Indians, but they are taking these. Indians only can take grain, rice and bread and not what Americans take.

One more wrong thing with Indians, few years ago, North Indians were taking the grain and bread in food and South Indians were taking rice but now, the South Indians are taking the bread and grain and North Indians are taking rice, this is one more reason of food problem.

Oh Yes, this water problem is also created by the Indians, those 250 million people whose are living below poverty line, they can’t purchase food, grains, etc and they depend on water instead of food, and hence creating the water problem in front of America.

Some of these people can’t use water too and they are using poison; soon the world will face another problem.

How can Bush blame Indians for food crisis in America? He is just finding an excuse for his incapability as a successful American leader. I think instead of hitting out at North Indians, Raj Thackrey must take such people to task and target all his vindicating remarks for Dubya!

at the end of his political carrier, Bush is shying time and again to commit blunders one after the other. I think he has lost sanity to allege indians responsible for the food crises. if we compare, US consumes more then the indians do. with the rising of the middle class, indians have every right to have a quality food and much more and this is certainly not snatching the morsel away from the beleaguered president. the boggled president is moving towards the end of his political carrier and sanity. you just wait there is much to come from the b****d

i don't know what you people understood from bush's statement but I know he simply want to say that 250 million below powerty line indians should stop eating for the Americans, stop drinking water so that the they can drink fresh water. disgusting is too short a word for such a statement...

This is the height of ludicrous superiority complex. It is so ridiculous for an American to say this when America is the land of excess and unbridled material consumption. Please! Americans aren’t the only children of God.

Here is a breaking news - the President of United States of America has gone gone mad, He lost his sense of thinking because his days in White House are almost over now. This is why He has started making such comments. After searching for WMDs in Iraq, Osama in Afghanistan, Bush wants to invade India in search of food grains to feed Americans.

As much as many enjoy bashing President Bush and has poor as he is known to speak, he was not calling for people in India to eat less or blaming you all for food prices.

Our media spares no expense twisting his words, easy to do with him being a poor public speaker, but I took his words as displaying the simple laws of supply and demand, not blaming a people who are prospering.

I am not the only one who sees it that way, either. Rare is it we read anything in defense of Bush, but this article does.

A chance to bash Mr Bush

No one desires India to give up food or stop prospering. Prosperity is good for everybody and I for one am happy to see countries like India prospering.

But, along with properity comes better living conditions and yes, eating more nutritous meals, another good thing. Know that India is a major food exporter, if the people of India are eating better I would imagine less food was being exported.

Just like our American farmers are diverting some 30% of our grain crops to ethanol fuel, leaving that much less on the food market.

So, the end result is less food to feed people, the higher the price.

I disagree with Bush about the impact of ethanol fuels from food crops and think it has a much larger impact than he states. This is why I also oppose ’bio-fuels’ from food crops when there is ample sources of energy elsewhere. Even if there weren’t, as I see it, food for people comes first, fuel second.

Bush has many faults, desiring others to go hungry so Americans can eat is not one of them. He has left many disappointed, even in his own party, but twisting his words, even ill spoken ones, serve no one.

You can read thentire speech in context and listen to audio, if you like here

How can anyone at the post of ’President’ can make such stupid comment or is it because Bush is an American President.

He has completely lost his mind.

I really wanna sympathize for him and pray him to be sane again soon.

@ Lewis

You are 100% right when u say that people don’t spare any chance to bash President Bush. In fact, it wouldn’t be inappropriate that BushWhacking is emerging as a popular passtime activity.

But, with regards to this particular article (read: hilarious attempt) by Mr BLG, I can only say that BLG is one of those opportunists who rely on the byproducts rather than the actual thing. A twisted speech (by the media) is generally the central idea of their articles/stories/revelations.

The same goes for the majority of comments...except for some genuine commentors, the majority only exercise their right to comment.. and for them, looking into the facts or trying to get the real picture before putting their comments is too boring a task.

Anyway, I have no soft corner for Bush nor I’m amazed at his verbal ability, but... this whole issue is just about taking his words out of context, in fact only a very small section of his speech is getting the majority of media attention. Why? So that it can be used as a fodder to feed those twisted minds! I wonder how many people have actually read the original speech , before putting up their fanciful comments. And if they say they have read the speech, then I pity on their reasoning power.

Aneez, as can be seen in some comments, such twisting of words, so prevelant in much of the media today, can lead to unneeded animosity between our peoples.

That is why sites as this can prove to be very worthy by giving voice to rational people who take the time to see what is really being said.

I voted for Bush twice, mostly because the other candidates were much worse. It is very difficult to get really great candidates to run for office knowing how they will be ripped apart by the media and the opposing party.

As for the Bush presidency, it will be left to history to judge his time in office, most likely long after I am gone.
